I like to think of my self as a bit of an expert when it comes to social distancing, isolation, or whatever you want to call this. Okay, so I'm like half joking. I'm an introvert and homebody though, so staying at home and doing things by myself come pretty naturally to me. Obviously I miss grabbing drinks or a bite to eat with friends and wandering around Target with Starbucks in my hand like the rest of you! But, I have managed to keep myself entertained and content despite not having those luxuries. Here are some of the things I have been LOVING this month...
Books... I have been reading like my life depends on it lately! I'm not one to watch tv all day and night, so with this extra time during the day, I'm finding myself reading a majority of the time. I'll even pick reading at night over watching another episode of whatever show I'm watching on Netflix sometimes! My two FAVORITE books that I've read this month are Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris... I have loved every book she's written. They're "can't put down" kind of books... like dangerously good in my opinion! The second book is The Passenger by Lisa Lutz. This is the first book I've read by her but definitely not the last. I finished it in two days haha! These books are both suspenseful, intriguing, and thrilling without being eery/scary which I like, because I'm not interested in being frightened to turn off the lights in my house when I put down my book to go to bed for the night. If you give these books a read (or if you've already read one), message me! I'd love to chat about it/them with you!!
Baking... The thing that everyone has decided to start doing. So many people are baking that flour is practically the new toilet paper problem! I'm a huge coffee cake, banana bread, and muffin kinda gal. I always have something like that made and ready to snack on in my house. Lately I haven't been able to find flour, so I started using pancake mix. It works like a charm!! I use Kodiak Cakes pancake and waffle mix to make my go to healthy banana bread, cinnamon apple muffins, and coffee cake, and I don't know if I'll stop even once I find flour. It's a pretty neat baking hack that probably tons of people have already been using, but it's new to me!
Coffee... aka my motivation to get up in the morning (not including the pups). I recently purchases a Nespresso and you guys, it's 100% worth it! If you're a coffee lover, not just a caffeine lover, but you actually enjoy the taste, smell, and ritual of sipping a cup of coffee, get yourself one of these babies! Typically I just have mine with a bit of creamer, but if I'm feeling like doing a little extra I pop in a double espresso and pour some milk in the aeroccino and have myself a little latte. Mmm so dang good!! If it wasn't 4:30pm as I'm writing this, I'd go make myself one right now.
Last but not least, we gotta talk about Netflix! Recently I started watching Supernatural (I know, I'm late to the game). The format of the show reminds me a lot of Criminal Minds and House which I enjoy. The show itself isn't my all time favorite supernatural-y/fantasy type show. However, I'm only just getting to the second season, so I don't think I'm far enough along in it to feel heavily invested yet. But can we just talk about the irony of Sam's brother being named Dean and Sam having been a Dean on another show (Gilmore Girls, duh). Anyways, I think my heart is still with The Vampire Diaries franchise (TVD, The Originals, and Legacies). I know... I'm really late to the game on these supernatural shows haha! I realize I don't sound super enthusiastic talking about this show, but I am REALLY enjoying it. I look forward to watching a couple episodes at night with the pups!!
What are some things you're loving lately? Are you reading? If so, I'd love to grab a few book recommendations from you! I feel like everyones baking right now, are you? If you're a fellow Nespresso user, what are your fave pods? Gosh, I could bombard y'all with questions and conversation starters for multiple paragraphs haha! I'll stop here. But I am genuinely curious, so leave a comment below or shoot me a message on instagram (@sianelizabethphotos) and let's chat!
